My name is Sharmin Hasan, founder of Better Balance Therapy. I am an experienced clinician who is passionate about helping people achieve positive balance in their lives. I am committed to supporting you in deepening your understanding of self, in the context of your situation, and, to help you create a greater quality of life.
An important aspect of my practice is to create a warm, confidential, and collaborative environment in which we explore your challenges together, at your preferred pace. Research shows that therapy results are strongly influenced by the therapeutic relationship between the client and the service provider. With this in mind, my goal is to ensure an empathetic and client-centred atmosphere for the work we do. As needs, strengths, and goals vary, our sessions will be tailored to your desired outcome, as we will work on a plan that is best suited for you.
It would be my privilege to embark on this journey with you as you engage in reflection, increase self-awareness, and transform your learning towards lasting personal and relational growth.
My Approach
My work is heavily guided by my belief that human beings are adaptable and resilient. With expanded coping mechanisms, and practising skills, in areas you may feel “stuck” or want to strengthen; you are able to cultivate more meaning, acceptance, and influence transformation. I incorporate a holistic approach, which considers all aspects of your life. This includes your emotional, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
I draw from various modalities and schools of thought, such as, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Contextual Behavioural Science, The Gottman Institute, Mindfulness based interventions, Family Systems, and most importantly, tailor treatment to your needs, goals, and strengths.
